Wastewater treatment

Wastewater treatment is used to remove solid and dissolved substances before the wastewater can be discharged into the receiving body of water. Oxygen-depleting substances such as carbon and nitrogen are targeted and removed to relieve the receiving waters. Eutrophic substances, in particular phosphorus, are eliminated by an appropriate precipitation.
On the one hand, the result of wastewater treatment is a water that has largely been freed of pollutants and which can be safely discharged into the receiving water. On the other hand, sludge is produced which is disposed of by agricultural utilization or by incineration (strongly increasing tendency), usually together with the household waste.
